Saint Catherine
It is a work of the 17th century, by the Cretan hagiographer Victor. Saint Catherine is depicted sitting on a throne, with princely clothes, surrounded by her books - an indication of her wisdom and education. She holds a branch of a palm tree (symbol of the Martyr) and the cross with the Crucifix, while next to her is the large wheel of martyrdom. The original icon is exhibited in the Byzantine Museum of Athens.
