Saints Anargyri
Many saints have the name Saint Anargyri, because many saints who had studied medicine have offered their services to all the poor and in need, offering also from their money and not only to Christians. The two most famous saints-doctors are the brothers Kosmas and Damianos. Our church celebrates the Roman Kosmas and Damianos on July 1 and the Asian Kosmas and Damianos on November 1. Saint Anargyri, the Roman brothers were known throughout Rome for their charity and selfless giving to both poor and rich. They were murdered by their fellow colleagues who envied them. The Asian Kosmas and Damian lived their lives teaching the word of God and offering their medical advice. They died peacefully.
