The amaranth Rose, symbolizing the amaranth flower of the Virgin Mary’s maidenhood, was the inspiration and creation of a hagiographer at the Zagori of Ioannina, in 1790. The original work is kept at the Holy Monastery of Metamorphosis in Meteora.
